چکیده

We characterize the degrees of freedom ηX in a system with two multiple antenna transmitters and two multiple antenna receivers. With M antennas at all nodes we find ⌊ 4 3 M⌋ ≤ ηX ≤ 4 3 M . The MMK scheme [1] built upon successive decoding and/or dirty paper coding schemes is known to achieve the ⌊ 4 3 M⌋ degrees of freedom. Interestingly, we find that simple zero forcing without dirty paper encoding or successive decoding, suffices to achieve the ⌊ 4 3 M⌋ degrees of freedom as well. Compared to the interference channels, the multiple access channels and the broadcast channels that are contained in the X channel, each of which allows only M degrees of freedom, we show that the X channel allows a higher multiplexing gain by a factor of at most 4 3 .

Degrees of Freedom on the MIMO X Channel - the Optimality of the MMK Scheme

We characterize the degrees of freedom ηX in a system with two multiple antenna transmitters and two multiple antenna receivers. With M antennas at all nodes we find ⌊ 43M⌋ ≤ ηX ≤ 4 3M . The MMK scheme proposed in [1] is seen to achieve the maximum multiplexing gain rounded down to the nearest integer and is exactly optimal when M is a multiple of 3. Compared to zero forcing that allows only M ...

Degrees-of-Freedom of the MIMO Three-Way Channel with Node-Intermittency

The characterization of fundamental performance bounds of many-to-many communication systems in which participating nodes are active in an intermittent way is one of the major challenges in communication theory. In order to address this issue, we introduce the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) three-way channel (3WC) with an intermittent node and study its degrees-of-freedom (DoF) region an...

On the Spatial Degrees of Freedom of Multicell and Multiuser MIMO Channels

We study the converse and achievability for the degrees of freedom of the multicellular multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) multiple access channel (MAC) with constant channel coefficients. We assume L > 1 homogeneous cells with K ≥ 1 users per cell where the users have M antennas and the base stations are equipped with N antennas. The degrees of freedom outer bound for this L-cell and K-user ...

Degrees of Freedom of the 3-User Rank-Deficient MIMO Interference Channel

We provide the degrees of freedom (DoF) characterization for the 3-user MT×MR multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) interference channel (IC) with rank-deficient channel matrices, where each transmitter is equipped with MT antennas and each receiver with MR antennas, and the interfering channel matrices from each transmitter to the other two receivers are of ranks D1 and D2, respectively. One i...

Degrees of Freedom Region for the MIMO X Channel

We provide achievability as well as converse results for the degrees of freedom region of a MIMO X channel, i.e., a system with two transmitters, two receivers, each equipped with multiple antennas, where independent messages need to be conveyed over fixed channels from each transmitter to each receiver. The inner and outerbounds on the degrees of freedom region are tight whenever integer degre...
